Thomas Chandler Haliburton (December 17, 1796 – August 27, 1865) was one of the 1st major Canadian authors.

Haliburton was innate within Windsor, Nova Scotia to an upper class family. He attended University of King's College in Windsor and became a lawyer, opening a practice in Annapolis Royal.

Haliburton become noted local business human & the judge, however his smashing fame came from either his writing. He wrote the diverse total of books in history, politics, & domestic improvement. He rose to globe wide fame using his Clocksmith serial that foremost appeared in the Novascotian and was later published inside book form throughout a British Empire. A books recounted a humorous escapade of the character Sam Slick and became extremely popular lightly reading.

Haliburton at length retired from either law & moved to England where he continued writing and died there within 1865.
